Trump cancels lunch with Putin: what was supposed to be on the table and why it matters.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, canceled the planned lunch between delegations during a meeting with the Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin. This incident became the second of its kind in history.
In Anchorage, Trump and Putin held a meeting that lasted nearly three hours, but the planned joint lunch between the delegations never took place. After the press conference, all summit participants quickly left Alaska.
The menu for the canceled lunch appeared online, which included a green salad with champagne dressing and sourdough bread. As a choice — filet mignon or cod with mashed potatoes and asparagus, as well as dessert — crème brûlée with ice cream.
By the way, along with the lunch, the expanded negotiations between the US and Russian delegations were also canceled.
The canceled lunch became the second case in Trump's presidency history when an international guest was not invited to the table.
It should be noted that on February 28 of this year, the US president also refused a planned lunch with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after a dispute in the White House. At that time, Zelensky left the meeting early due to disagreements on war issues and the agreement regarding natural resources.
Earlier, the Czech Ministry of Defense reacted to the meeting in Alaska and stated that they did not see any willingness for peace from Putin.
Additionally, after the summit in Anchorage, the President of France announced a meeting of the 'Coalition of the Willing', which is scheduled to take place in the coming days.
