Trump reported 'productive negotiations' with Putin
US President Donald Trump stated on his Truth Social page that he had fruitful negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a possible end to the war in Ukraine. However, at the same time, he emphasized the critical situation in which thousands of Ukrainian soldiers find themselves, surrounded by Russian forces.
Yesterday we had very good and productive negotiations with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and there is a great probability that this terrible, bloody war may finally end – BUT, AT THIS VERY MOMENT, THOUSANDS OF UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS ARE COMPLETELY SURROUNDED BY THE RUSSIAN ARMY AND ARE IN A VERY VULNERABLE AND BAD SITUATION. I urgently asked President Putin to spare their lives. This was a tragedy that hadn’t been seen since World War II. God bless them all!
Trump noted that he personally appealed to Putin to spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and referenced the scale of potential tragedy reminiscent of World War II.
