Trump on Greenland: We'll Do It the Hard Way If It Can't Be Done the Easy Way.
According to ТСН: U.S. President Donald Trump continues to discuss a possible deal regarding Greenland, noting that if it cannot be done 'the easy way,' he is prepared to 'do it the hard way.'
These words were expressed by Trump during a meeting with representatives from the oil and gas industry.
“I would like to make a deal the easy way, but if we can't do it the easy way, we'll do it the hard way. By the way, I am also a fan of Denmark. I must say they have been very nice to me. I am a big fan of theirs,” Trump said.
When asked about potential financial payments to Greenlanders in the event of their joining the U.S., Trump responded that he is not yet ready to discuss that.
“I am not talking about money for Greenland yet,” he stated.
Additionally, CNN notes that representatives from Greenland and Denmark who work in Washington recently met with White House officials. This meeting took place against the backdrop of Greenland's clear position that 'it is not for sale.'
According to the publication, Danish Ambassador Jesper Moller Sorensen and Greenland's chief representative in the U.S., Jacob Isbjoernsen, met with advisers to Donald Trump.
These events occur amid increasing U.S. interest in Greenland, not only from an economic standpoint but also geopolitically. The question of Greenland's status as a territory that 'is not for sale' raises more questions than answers and could impact future relations between the U.S., Denmark, and Greenland.
