US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the United States could gain control over the island of Greenland.
He stated this on Saturday, January 25, aboard Air Force One.
Trump claims that 57 thousand residents of the island support this idea.
'I think we will get it,' said the US president.
Trump also noted that 57 thousand residents of Greenland support joining the US.
'I really don't know what claims Denmark has to this, but it would be a very unfriendly act if they didn't allow this to happen because it's for the protection of the free world... It has nothing to do with the United States, other than we can provide freedom. They can't,' said the US president.
It is worth recalling that earlier Trump had expressed a desire to buy Greenland during his first term in 2019. He considered control over the island 'absolutely necessary' for global security. After winning the 2024 election, he renewed discussions about purchasing the island.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also commented on Trump's intentions regarding the activation of hostilities.
