United Kingdom: 66% of families noted a sharp increase in prices for vacations abroad.
Increase in vacation expenses
According to The Sun: Significant increases in airfare and vacation costs have forced many families to limit their travel abroad. This is shown by the results of a new study.
A survey involving 1,000 parents of children under 16 traveling abroad shows that 66 percent believe that rising prices make it more difficult to go on vacation.
SWNS69 percent of parents are forced to look for new ways to optimize their finances in order to travel due to rising ticket prices.
Ways to save
Among the most common tips for saving is to book tickets and accommodation in advance, bring snacks and essentials instead of buying them on site, and use price comparison sites to find good deals.
The research commissioned by the insurance company Staysure revealed that families have cut their vacation budgets by an average of £941, resulting in total vacation expenses now averaging around £2,800.
As a result, 44 percent of parents increasingly choose to vacation at home rather than travel abroad.
Even local trips can significantly impact the budget: the average family spends about £300 on entertainment for children during school holidays. Meanwhile, 57 percent of parents are looking for discounts on tickets to amusement parks and attractions.
60 percent of people over 65 also say they are choosing to vacation at home due to rising prices.
“Families crave vacations abroad, but rising costs create difficulties for all generations,”said a representative of Staysure.
Emotions and expenses
With rising vacation costs, more parents find themselves paying for family seat bookings. 41 percent of respondents feel frustrated, and 32 percent are dissatisfied with the situation.
44 percent reported feeling angry about such pricing policies.
Among the 66 percent who have had to cut vacation expenses, 32 percent reduced spending on food, 31 percent cut the overall budget, and 28 percent opted out of better conditions in hotels. Another 28 percent saved on souvenirs and shopping during trips.
71 percent of respondents had vacationed on an all-inclusive basis before, but 75 percent would now prefer vacationing with self-catering due to the rapid price increases during peak periods.
30 percent of parents admitted they take their children out of school to save on vacations, doing this on average for five days. 55 percent believe they will exclusively vacation in the UK going forward due to rising costs.
“Parents understandably feel financial pressure and seek opportunities to save for family vacations,”added a representative of Staysure, who also offers a 20 percent discount on policies in September.
