May Tomato Prices: Which Varieties Have Become Cheaper and Which Set Records.


Price Dynamics of Tomatoes in Ukrainian Supermarkets
As of mid-May 2025, tomato prices in Ukrainian supermarkets show varying dynamics compared to April.
According to the analytical portal 'Minfin', prices for red tomatoes are decreasing, while prices for pink tomatoes are increasing. For example, the average price of red tomatoes is 103.66 UAH per kilogram, which is cheaper than in April when they cost 112.42 UAH. Red tomatoes are most affordable at the Novus chain for 78.99 UAH/kg.
Currently, pink tomatoes average 117.29 UAH/kg, which is also lower than last month. For instance, at Auchan, they can be purchased for 99.90 UAH/kg, while at Metro, the price reaches 134.68 UAH/kg. Prices for the 'plum' tomato variety, on the contrary, have increased to 153.13 UAH/kg. At Megamarket, the price for a kilogram of plums is 194.40 UAH, which is the highest among the stores considered.
Information about the rising prices of some types of vegetables and the decline in others becomes important for consumers planning their grocery expenses. We will keep track of price changes in the near future.
