A participant of the Georgian Legion, who is fighting as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mamuka Mamulashvili, was sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment. The Russian prosecutor's office accused him of several charges. According to the accusations, Mamulashvili recruited foreign mercenaries, mainly former military personnel from Georgia. He provided them with weapon training and assisted them in combat operations. For this, he was promised more than 23 million rubles in rewards. Additionally, three fighters of the Georgian Legion received guilty verdicts for participating in an armed conflict. They were each sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Earlier, Mamulashvili spoke about the motivation of his fighters regarding their participation in the war in Ukraine. He also reported that he was poisoned a few months ago, but his condition is currently satisfactory. Russia has recognized the Georgian National Legion as a terrorist organization, and its activities on the territory of the country are prohibited.
