Drunken Kharkiv Resident Strikes Policeman: Court Delivers Conditional Sentence.
In Kharkiv, a drunken man insulted police officers and struck one of them. For this, he was punished by the court.
This became known from the court's verdict.
Case Details
According to the case materials, on June 10, 2025, around 10:00 PM, three police officers were patrolling the city to conduct preventive measures. When they were at the address Shevchenkivskyi Lane, 30-A, a drunken man approached them, who began to insult the honor and dignity of the police officers.
After the officers' remarks, the Kharkiv resident approached and struck one of them in the face. Thus, the policeman received a bruise on his jaw.
Court Decision
During the court session, the accused fully admitted his guilt and repented, and his lawyer insisted that the court take this into account.
Thus, the Kyiv District Court of Kharkiv found the man guilty of committing a criminal offense (threat or violence against law enforcement officers) and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment.
However, based on Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the accused was released from the imposed punishment on probation, establishing a probation period of one year. During this time, the man must:
- periodically appear for registration at the authorized probation authority;
- notify the authorized probation authority of any changes in residence or employment;
- not leave Ukraine without permission from the authorized probation authority.
We remind that recently in Kyiv, a man was tried for breaking a friend's nose during a quarrel. The court assigned him community service and a fine.
We also wrote that a father and son from Prykarpattia attacked a TCC employee. They sprayed tear gas in a soldier's eyes and threw a working angle grinder at him.
The incident in Kharkiv indicates the inadmissibility of physical violence against law enforcement officers. The court imposed punishment on the man but released him from serving it on probation for one year. The condemnation of the attack on police officers should remind citizens of the necessity of respect for the law and public order.Read also
