In Kyiv, a corruption scheme was uncovered: officials overpaid 870 thousand for generators for schools.
The Kyiv city prosecutor's office reported that four entrepreneurs and the head of the Department of Education of the Dnipro district in Kyiv were suspected of purchasing generators for school shelters at inflated prices.
The accused overpaid more than half a million hryvnias for generators
According to the investigation, the price of generators for schools was inflated by 870 thousand hryvnias, although they were purchased with budget funds.
According to the investigation, one entrepreneur won the tender, and the other two assisted in the embezzlement of funds and signed documents for the purchase of equipment.
The accused are implicated in the illegal use of budget funds, and the entrepreneurs face charges of misappropriation of property through abuse of office. The issue of preventive measures and possible suspension from office is currently being considered. The maximum punishment could be up to twelve years of imprisonment, confiscation of property, and a ban on holding certain positions.
Recently, violations with budget abuse and corruption have also been discovered in Kyiv, including the purchase of low-quality body cameras for guards and ineffective repairs of buildings.
