Kyiv Hosts 'Path to Freedom' Forum for Belarusian Opposition

According to UATV: On March 25, a forum titled 'Path to Freedom' took place in Kyiv, bringing together representatives of the Belarusian opposition and volunteers from the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment. Participants tackled critical security issues and strategies for backing democratic forces in Belarus, with a focus on the most effective ways to pressure the Lukashenko regime. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, head of the Belarusian United Transitional Cabinet, stressed that

'Ukraine's defense forces represent hope for freedom not just for Kyiv, but for Minsk as well.'

During the forum, attendees adopted a resolution declaring the Lukashenko regime a threat to regional security in Eastern Europe. It specifically highlighted that Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia would form the core of support for Belarusian democratic forces. In his speech, Ilya Kvas emphasized the need to consider the positions of major global players, particularly easing tensions with the United States.

Alisa Ryzhychenko underscored the importance of cooperation between representatives of democratic Belarus and Ukraine in building stronger ties. The 'Path to Freedom' forum marked a significant step in efforts to support the Belarusian people in their quest for liberty and democracy.

International Backing for the Belarusian Opposition

The 'Path to Freedom' forum highlights the crucial role of international support for the Belarusian opposition amid the current political landscape in Eastern Europe. Collaboration between Ukraine and Belarusian democratic forces could become a key driver in the fight for human rights and democratic values across the region. As authoritarian regimes pose growing threats, such initiatives may spur the international community to take more decisive action to uphold freedom and democracy in countries facing political crises.
