Belarus Keeps Expanding Military Infrastructure Near Ukraine Border, Says Tsikhanouskaya.
Belarus’s Military Activity and Its Regional Security Impact
According to Novyny.live: Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the Belarusian opposition leader, has reported ongoing construction of military infrastructure by Belarus near the Ukrainian border. In her statement, she underscored how much Lukashenko’s regime depends on the Kremlin, noting that
“Lukashenko serves Putin’s interests first and foremost, not those of the Belarusian people or Ukraine”Tsikhanouskaya said.
Belarus is now conducting military exercises close to the borders of both Ukraine and NATO member states. While this raises concerns, Ukraine does not anticipate Belarus being directly drawn into the war. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that threats emerging from Belarus are being closely monitored.
Political Fallout for Lukashenko
Tsikhanouskaya also warned that this situation could lead to severe consequences for Lukashenko, describing it as
“potentially political death for Lukashenko”Tsikhanouskaya remarked. As a result, the buildup of military infrastructure and Belarus’s heightened activity near the Ukrainian border stand out as critical factors in the broader regional security landscape.
These developments highlight the growing tension in relations between Belarus and Ukraine, as well as between Minsk and Moscow. Even though official Kyiv does not foresee Belarus’s direct involvement in the conflict, the increased military presence could still reshape security dynamics in the area. The international community continues to closely watch the situation, aiming to prevent any further escalation.
