European leaders prepare for an emergency summit in Paris
European leaders are preparing for an emergency summit in Paris, which will take place on Monday at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting is dedicated to discussing the situation in Ukraine and European security issues, as confirmed by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on France Inter radio.
According to Reuters, the summit will involve representatives from seven influential European countries: France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, and Denmark, with the latter representing the interests of the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.
The summoning of the summit comes amid a resonant statement from U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker, who shocked the European community the day before by saying that Europe would have no place at the negotiating table for the cessation of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
'The main European countries will gather to discuss European security,' Barrot emphasized, although he refrained from detailing the list of participants.
Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski announced the preparation for the summit, expressing hope for a 'very serious' discussion of the problems arising due to the position of U.S. President Donald Trump.
