"African swine fever" - is a viral disease of pigs characterized by high contagiousness, fever, blueness of the skin, and internal hemorrhages. This disease is considered one of the most dangerous contagious diseases of animals. It is safe for humans.

Under natural conditions, both domestic and wild pigs of any age can contract African swine fever. The disease is transmitted from sick animals and virus carriers. Healthy pigs can become infected when cohabited with infected carriers, as well as through feed, pastures, and transport means contaminated with the excrement of sick animals. Unsterilized food waste also contributes to the spread of the disease. Birds, humans, domestic and wild animals, and parasites that contact sick pigs and animal carcasses can be virus carriers.

Previously, cases of African swine fever among wild animals were recorded in the Korostensky district of the Zhytomyr region. Experts from the State Consumer Service found four carcasses of wild pigs, which were disposed of, and the place of discovery and burning was disinfected.

African swine fever was also registered in the village of Velyka Kysnytsia in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi district in the Vinnytsia region.

In Chernivtsi, pig carcasses infected with African swine fever were found on the riverbank.
