An unknown object found near the Belarus border in Poland: it is being analyzed by special services.
In the Polish village of Stara Kamionka, near the Belarus border, an unfamiliar object with Cyrillic was discovered. It has already been handed over to special services for examination. This was reported by PAP.
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the coordinator of Polish special services, emphasized that the object is likely a weather balloon.
The police arrived at the scene, and a sapper dog was also involved. We checked what this object was. Everything indicates that it is a weather balloon, he noted.
Dobrzyński reminded that recently another weather balloon was discovered in this same area. The Polish spokesman pointed out that this area is likely their flight zone.
On the morning of August 26, during a massive Russian aviation attack on Ukraine, an object, presumably a Russian kamikaze drone, entered Polish airspace. The object flew about 25 km deep into Poland's territory and then disappeared from radars. Practically immediately, the territorial defense started searching for its remnants, but they have not been found yet. Therefore, most Polish citizens probably support the idea of shooting down Russian aircraft over the country.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called the destruction of Russian missiles over Ukraine his country's duty. According to him, NATO membership does not exempt the country from the obligation to protect its airspace.
