This is the first time in the history of the institution that fertilization occurred after the husband's death. Obstetrician-gynecologist Viktor Lesik explained that the couple had been trying to conceive for a long time but without success. Natalia Hordiichuk turned to the medical facility with an issue of unknown infertility causes, and after several procedures, she was referred to the family planning center.
«My husband and I were trying to conceive for a year. He took a test, and we were asked to return in three days. In March, when we came back, he went to Donbas. In May, I received a call and was told that he was gone», - said Natalia Hordiichuk.
After the tragedy, doctors offered the woman free artificial insemination. Natalia did not stop even after her husband's death, as she promised to give birth to their child together. Thus, on May 20, 2025, Yuriy was born, a boy named after the fallen soldier, his father who would never meet his son.
Previously, the general director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital named after I. Mechnikov proposed the creation of a Reproductive Center for severely injured soldiers. This is an important step in supporting military personnel and their families in difficult situations, it is emphasized.
