A sportsman died during a triathlon in Russia: what happened at the competition.
In Russia, during a triathlon competition in Nizhny Novgorod, a tragic event occurred – during the open water swimming segment in the final meters of the distance, participant Andrey Pulayev died. Despite immediate medical assistance, the man passed away. The water segment distance was 1.93 kilometers, and more than 300 people participated in the competition.
This is not the first case of death during water segments of sports competitions in Russia. This is already the third such tragedy in the country this summer. Participants have died immediately during the water segment, raising questions about safety and organization of the competitions.
The deceased athlete competed in the 40-44 age category and had experience in winter swimming. He participated in competitions of the Winter Swimming Federation of Russia and held titles at the national level.
Participation in sports competitions always carries certain risks, but such tragic cases underscore the importance of adhering to high safety standards during the conduct of such events.
