A powerful earthquake occurred in Tibet: dozens dead (video).
On January 7, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck Tibet. According to preliminary reports, at least 32 people have died.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at 9:05 AM local time and was followed by several aftershocks.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located on the remote Tibetan plateau near the border with Nepal. The tremors were felt not only in Tibet but also in neighboring countries. In Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, reports describe strong jolts that also affected the Everest region. The earthquake was also felt in the northern regions of India and Bhutan.
Rescue operations are currently underway, and the extent of the damage and the number of injured are being clarified. Geologists warn of possible aftershocks that could complicate the situation.
Let us remind you that on November 24, in Romania, seismologists recorded two earthquakes on the same day. The first earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 occurred at 07:16 in the Vrancea seismic zone at a depth of 128 km. The second earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 was recorded at 08:43 at a depth of 64.5 km.
