Night Explosions in Lviv Region: Was a Oreshnik Missile Used?

According to ТСН: On the night of January 9, 2026, explosions were heard in the Lviv region; however, there is currently no confirmation that the region was hit by an “Oreshnik” type missile.

The Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyy, reported that the military is expected to provide final information on the type of weapon used.

“Whether it was an “Oreshnik” is currently unknown. The military will provide information,” Sadovyy noted.

He confirmed that a strike occurred on a critical infrastructure facility. All services are working at the site, and firefighting efforts are ongoing. According to preliminary data, no casualties have been reported, and civilian objects and residential buildings have not sustained damage.

Additionally, unconfirmed information has surfaced in monitoring channels suggesting that the strike could have been carried out without a warhead, similar to the previous incident in Dnipro. It is also reported that the impact sites have already been identified, but this data requires official confirmation.

The authenticity of this information will be known within a few hours — following statements from the military and relevant services.

Residents of Kyiv are advised to remain in shelters until air raid alerts are cleared.

This situation indicates rising tensions in the region and the need for heightened readiness among the civilian population. Both local residents and the entire country are awaiting official confirmations from the military and special services, as information regarding threats remains extremely important in the current conditions.
