Strike on retirement home in Sumy: Ministry of Social Policy repeatedly demanded the evacuation of elderly patients.
The Ministry of Social Policy appealed to the Sumy Military Administration with a request to organize the evacuation of the retirement home for the elderly, which was hit by a Russian bomb. However, the administration stated that the patients did not wish to relocate. This was reported by the Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovych, during the government question hour.
She explained that there is an order for the evacuation of all facilities where people reside. According to this order, mandatory evacuation concerns facilities located 2 kilometers from critical infrastructure, 50 kilometers from the border, and 100 kilometers from the combat zone.
Zholnovych stated that she had appealed to the Sumy Regional Military Administration with a request to organize an evacuation from the geriatric home, which was later hit by a Russian bomb. She also provided a list of possible relocation sites. She noted that the regional administration is the manager of the facility, so the ministry does not have the authority to influence the evacuation process.
At the same Time, the regional administration stated that the patients themselves refused to evacuate, as they did not wish to relocate. Zholnovych doubts whether this is truly the case.
She also emphasized that a regulation was recently adopted allowing protocols to be drawn up if the founders of institutions do not take actions for evacuation from dangerous areas.
The minister also asks to support amendments to the law on state oversight and control, as this is necessary to hold responsible persons accountable.
Recall the situation
