Targeting Russian Oil Refineries

According to UATV: On July 6, 2023, Ukrainian defense forces launched strikes against Russian oil refineries, a missile brigade deployment site, and a petroleum product transshipment terminal in Crimea. Among the targets were the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl and the Novatek-Ust-Luga refinery in Leningrad Oblast. The TES-Terminal-1 facility in Kerch was also hit.

The Slavneft-YANOS refinery has an annual design capacity of 15 million tons of crude oil, producing diesel, aviation fuel, and lubricants. These attacks aim to degrade the capabilities of Russian forces, which rely heavily on fuel resources for combat operations.

Logistics Infrastructure Under Fire

Additionally, Ukrainian forces struck a railway bridge in the occupied part of Luhansk Oblast, a key route for moving troops and ammunition. This underscores the strategic focus of Ukraine's military on disrupting enemy supply lines.

Throughout June, Ukraine’s defense forces carried out over 200,000 strikes against Russian targets, demonstrating both the intensity and effectiveness of their counter-aggression efforts. These operations mark a critical phase in Ukraine's campaign to bolster its own security and regional stability.

The ongoing attacks on refineries and logistics hubs reflect Ukraine's sustained military strategy to weaken the adversary's resource base. By cutting off access to essential supplies like fuel, these actions could shift the broader dynamics of the conflict. Ukrainian forces continue to apply pressure, maintaining the initiative in their military operations.
