Assault on Zaporizhzhia

According to UATV: Five people were killed and 26 others wounded in a Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia. Over the past 24 hours, nine guided aerial bombs were dropped on the city. The attack damaged 26 residential buildings, including 20 apartment blocks and 6 private houses.

The grounds of a horse-riding club were also hit, and one bomb landed in the courtyard of the city’s Palace of Youth and Children. Oleh Palieiev, a staff member, commented:

“One of our colleagues was injured—a piece of shrapnel lodged in his foot. He is currently in the hospital.” — Oleh Palieiev

Conflict Intensifies

This assault is part of a broader military campaign. On June 21, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with:

  • two Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles,
  • two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aero-ballistic missiles,
  • 105 drone strikes.

The events in Zaporizhzhia highlight the escalating conflict and its devastating toll on the local population. This recent wave of attacks underscores the growing intensity of hostilities in the region, leading to severe humanitarian consequences.

Victims are suffering not only physical injuries but also lasting psychological trauma, which disrupts their daily lives. This situation calls for the international community to pay closer attention to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and support efforts to bring stability to the area. Zaporizhzhia, a key city in southeastern Ukraine, has faced repeated strikes since the start of the full-scale invasion, compounding the challenges for its residents.
