Hungary cancelled negotiations with Ukraine: an unexpected reason has emerged.

Hungary cancelled negotiations with Ukraine due to events in Transcarpathia
Hungary has decided to cancel the negotiations scheduled for May 12 with Ukraine regarding the rights of national minorities due to events that occurred in Transcarpathia. This was stated by Hungary's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Levente Madjar on social media Facebook.
The meeting on April 29 with Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna was supposed to kick-start bilateral negotiations on the rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia, particularly concerning the use of the native language. The resumption of work at the expert level was planned for May 12, but this will not happen.
'However, last night I cancelled tomorrow’s meeting as I believe that the events of recent days in Hungarian-Ukrainian relations do not allow for a fair and constructive discussion on such an important and sensitive issue as the rights of national minorities,' Madjar emphasized.
Madjar also noted that the conduct of a 'special operation' in Transcarpathia three days before the scheduled meeting casts doubt on Ukraine's sincerity in resolving problematic issues. In response, the Hungarian side remains ready for dialogue.
Ukraine confirmed that the Hungarian side postponed consultations to May 12. Analysts from the Hungarian publication Telex believe that these events were a new blow to Ukrainian-Hungarian relations and an escalation of the spy war between the countries.
