Ukraine to Significantly Boost Its Air Force Capabilities
According to TSN.ua: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a major agreement to strengthen Ukraine's air defense component. The deal will see Ukraine's Air Force receive a substantial influx of modern combat aircraft, including:
- 150 Gripen fighter jets
- 100 Rafale fighter jets
This procurement is intended to bolster Ukraine's aerial power as the nation continues to defend itself against the ongoing invasion. This move signals a long-term commitment from international partners to support Ukraine's military modernization.
Plans for Modernization and Civil Aviation Recovery
Ukraine's current fleet already includes F-16 aircraft. Zelenskyy noted that personnel changes are planned within the Air Force units, indicating a drive toward modernization and increased operational effectiveness.
Furthermore, the president emphasized that alongside military aviation development, the country also plans to revive its civil aviation sector.
“We will also lift up civil aviation, we will develop it, but we will definitely end the war and will focus on this direction as well,” Zelenskyy stated.He confirmed that the Ukrainian side is actively cooperating with the Air Force and command to ensure the effective execution of assigned tasks.
“I think you will feel it,” the president added.
These developments underscore Ukraine's commitment to strengthening its defensive capabilities while the conflict persists. The delivery of these new jets will significantly expand the operational potential of the Air Force, which could alter the strategic balance in the region.
