Ukraine and France Ratify Grant Agreement
According to Novyny.live: On May 28, 2023, Ukraine’s parliament approved a €71 million grant agreement with France, designed to help rebuild the country’s critical infrastructure. The deal itself was originally signed in Kyiv on February 20, 2026. This financial support comes as Ukraine continues to face major challenges in restoring essential services and facilities damaged during the conflict.
The corresponding bill, numbered 0374, was introduced by Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers. Alongside this, lawmakers also ratified a separate €90 billion credit agreement with the European Union, further underscoring the broad international backing for Ukraine’s recovery efforts.
Priority Areas for Investment
The French grant will be allocated across several key sectors, including:
- Healthcare
- Energy infrastructure
- Transport
- Agricultural development
- Water supply and wastewater systems
- Irrigation
- Waste management
- Humanitarian demining
- Housing construction
- Digital technology advancement
These investments represent a significant step toward modernizing and rebuilding Ukraine’s infrastructure.
The ratification of both the French grant and the EU credit agreement highlights the strong international commitment to supporting Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery and long-term stability.
By channeling funds into these vital areas, the agreements aim to improve living conditions for the population and bolster the country’s economic resilience. Given the urgent need for infrastructure restoration, these financial packages are expected to play a crucial role in Ukraine’s reconstruction process.
