France to Supply Ukraine with SAMP/T Air Defense System; Zelenskyy Sets Condition for Future Deliveries.
Ukraine Set to Receive SAMP/T Air Defense System
According to UATV: Ukraine is slated to receive a new SAMP/T air defense system in 2023, intended for testing against ballistic missiles. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the announcement during a press briefing. The SAMP/T system serves as an alternative to the Patriot system; should it perform well, Ukraine will be placed in line for additional units.
“We will see whether the new SAMP/T systems can intercept ballistic missiles.”

The President further emphasized: 'If everything works, this will be a long-term, beneficial form of assistance.' He added: 'If we succeed with the French and can shoot down ballistic missiles, this will be the first such alternative to the Patriot.'
These statements mark a significant step for Ukraine in bolstering its air defense capabilities, a pressing need given the current security environment. The SAMP/T system is expected to provide new options for protecting the country from aerial threats.
Boosting Defense Effectiveness
Deploying the SAMP/T system could greatly enhance the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense, particularly amid ongoing missile attack threats.
