Ukraine returned the bodies of 1.2 thousand fallen defenders.


Ukraine has accepted 1.2 thousand bodies of the fallen, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel. This became possible thanks to repatriation measures that were organized under an agreement reached in Istanbul. This was reported by 'Glavcom' citing the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Investigators together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs will conduct examinations to identify the repatriated bodies in the near future. Special thanks are expressed to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their support in conducting the events and to the personnel of the Central Department of Civil-Military Cooperation (CMO) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Unified Center for Ensuring the Activities of CMO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are transporting and organizing the transfer of bodies for research at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health.
Ukraine has accepted 1.2 thousand fallen military personnel who held Ukrainian citizenship and died. An examination is being conducted to identify their bodies, and special thanks are expressed to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their cooperation in this process. Efforts by investigators and experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs are clarifying the origins of the fallen soldiers.
