Ukraine Returned the Bodies of 503 Fallen Defenders.
As a result of the repatriation activities conducted, the bodies of 503 fallen defenders have been returned to the territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine. This was reported by the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Among the returned fallen defenders of Ukraine:
- 403 from the Donetsk direction;
- 12 from the Luhansk direction;
- 57 from the Zaporizhzhia direction;
- 31 deceased were returned from morgues in Russia.
It is reported that the fallen defenders of Ukraine were returned as a result of the joint efforts of the employees of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Central Department of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the United Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Authorized Representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Authorized Representative on Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine.
The Coordinating Headquarters expressed gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
«Special thanks to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who transport the repatriated fallen Heroes to designated state specialized institutions, organize the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement representatives and forensic examinations», – the message states.
The Coordinating Headquarters assured that the identities of the deceased will be established as soon as possible.
As a reminder, on November 29, Ukraine managed to return the bodies of 502 fallen defenders. In particular, 397 warriors were repatriated from the Donetsk direction, 24 from the Luhansk direction, 64 from the Zaporizhzhia direction, and 17 deceased from morgues in the RF.
On November 8, Ukraine returned the bodies of 563 fallen defenders.
As reported, law enforcement is investigating over 50 criminal cases regarding the murders of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
