Ukraine develops new EW systems every month - The Times.
Ukraine is developing new technologies to counter Russian drones. In particular, special backpacks and ground robots capable of neutralizing enemy drones are being created. These innovations will soon be introduced to the front line, reports The Times.
The commercial director of the company Kvertus, Sergiy Skoryk, noted that Ukrainian technologies are being developed faster than in Western countries. Ukrainian military personnel have to come up with new solutions in just a few weeks to counter the evolving enemy weapons.
"In wartime, new technologies need to emerge very quickly," says Skoryk.
Kvertus' ground robot is equipped with special antennas capable of jamming drone signals within a radius of up to 300 meters. This robot can neutralize drones and evacuate injured soldiers from the battlefield. Using special antennas, the robot creates a 'dome' protection, jamming radio signals and can disrupt a drone even at a distance of up to 10 km.
Also, Kvertus has developed hedgehog-type backpacks with multiple antennas of different frequency ranges, providing protection from drones several kilometers away. The cost of each backpack is around $6000. These developments are designed to protect soldiers on the front line.
"If you are without this equipment on the front line, you are unlikely to survive longer than an hour," says Skoryk.
Kvertus also supplies technologies for Challenger 2 tanks, which Ukraine received from Great Britain, and uses its solutions to operate in Russia. These innovations help the Ukrainian army effectively combat drones and maintain an advantage over Russian forces.
British defense officials have expressed admiration for the speed at which Ukrainian engineers develop new technologies. They emphasized the importance of accelerating their own developments to keep up in the arms race.
The Ukrainian industry and military are constantly seeking new solutions to counter threats on the battlefield. Close cooperation between enterprises and the army allows for the rapid introduction of new developments and ensures Ukrainian forces have an advantage over the enemy.
In the Russian-Ukrainian war, drones play a significant role, making developments in this field very relevant.
Recently, the Russian Federation shot down its own combat drone S-70 'Okhotnik' over the front line in Ukraine. Apparently, Russia decided to destroy the drone to prevent it from falling into the hands of the enemy.
