Ukraine creates agricultural attachés: why the agri-sector needs its own diplomats.
Meeting at the Ministry of Economy
According to inkorr.com: A meeting took place in Ukraine between Deputy Ministers Taras Vysotsky and Denys Bashlyk, as well as representatives of the European Union and embassies of EU countries. Important issues of agricultural policy were discussed.
Main topics of the meeting
During the meeting, the results of the work were summarized and further steps for the sustainable development of the Ukrainian agri-sector were considered. In particular, attention was drawn to the results of screenings with the EU, the establishment of an agricultural attaché institution, as well as support for the integration of economic, agricultural, and ecological areas.
Agricultural diplomacy is the next strategic step. Ukraine is already working on creating positions for agricultural attachés at diplomatic and trade missions, who will represent the interests of the Ukrainian agri-sector abroad.
Transparency in state support
Taras Vysotsky emphasized that Ukraine's European integration path is irreversible, noting the importance of the Payment Agency law, which will ensure transparent and timely support for agricultural producers.
'The launch of the Payment Agency is a concrete example of implementing European practices. We are systematically building a model of agricultural policy - from harmonizing legislation to real support for producers. This is a team effort from the Ministry of Economy to strengthen the Ukrainian agri-sector,' said Denys Bashlyk.
Ministry priorities
Among the further priorities of the Ministry of Economy's work are support for farmers in front-line areas, reclamation reform, land demining and restoration, as well as the development of agri-food processing.
'EU representatives confirmed their readiness to support Ukraine - both financially and technically. They noted the importance of developing the agricultural attaché institution, which will facilitate the promotion of Ukrainian products in international markets,' the Ministry of Economy reported.
At the meeting at the Ministry of Economy, the importance of agricultural diplomacy as a tool for promoting Ukrainian agri-products in international markets was emphasized. Additionally, Ukraine's course to implement European standards in agriculture, which creates new opportunities for Ukrainian producers, was confirmed.
