Ukraine and Latvia Forge Defense Agreement
According to Novyny.live: A new defense pact, known as the Drone Deal, has been signed between Ukraine and Latvia, focusing on the co-production of unmanned aerial vehicles to enhance military readiness. During discussions with Estonian President Alar Karis, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the supply of air defense systems and the need for forward momentum in Ukraine’s European Union accession talks. Zelenskyy stated,
“Latvia and Estonia remain steadfast allies of Ukraine,”underscoring the critical backing these nations provide amid the current situation.
Ukraine has already fulfilled the requirements to open six negotiation clusters for EU membership, marking a significant milestone in its European integration journey. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that
“progress in the negotiations is needed right now,”pointing to the urgency of advancing Kyiv’s EU aspirations.
