Ukraine Deploys Counter-Drone Systems to Jordan, Sharing Hard-Won Defense Expertise.
Protecting U.S. Military Bases in Jordan
According to UATV: Ukraine has dispatched counter-drone systems and military advisors to help defend American bases in Jordan. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on this initiative, highlighted a clear international interest in leveraging Ukraine's proven expertise in drone defense, particularly against threats emanating from neighboring countries like Iran. This deployment underscores how Ukraine's battlefield experience is becoming a strategic asset for its partners.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has noted Ukraine's extensive, battle-tested experience in countering Iranian-made kamikaze drones. To date, Ukraine has received 11 formal requests for assistance from Iran's neighbors, European nations, and the United States. Among the leaders who have sought support are:
- Bahrain
- United Arab Emirates
- Jordan
- Kuwait
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
Zelenskyy noted:
“The process of interaction is precisely using a quid-pro-quo format,”indicating that Ukraine is actively mobilizing other nations to support its own security efforts. During his visit to Ukraine, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten also affirmed:
“We will continue to mobilize other countries to support Ukraine.”
Cooperation Between Ukraine and the Netherlands
In a related development, Ukraine and the Netherlands have reached an agreement to scale up joint weapons production, signaling a deepening of defense sector collaboration. Commenting on the situation, Andrii Sybiha emphasized the necessity for decisive action against shared threats, both in Ukraine and in the Persian Gulf region.
Consequently, Ukraine is actively working to strengthen its international standing and bolster its partners in confronting emerging security challenges. This initiative reflects Ukraine's ambition not only to enhance its own security but also to fortify an international coalition countering threats from Iran and its allies.
