Ukraine lost 80 thousand soldiers? MP commented on WSJ data.
According to a study by The Wall Street Journal, 80 thousand Ukrainian servicemen have already died during the war with Russia. However, Member of Parliament Roman Kostenko believes that this figure is significantly overstated. He stated this in an interview with «Radio Liberty».
Kostenko believes that the data on the dead may be exaggerated if we are talking about those who are officially recognized as dead. He also noted that even the figure of 50 thousand dead may be inaccurate. Kostenko admitted that he does not have accurate information about the losses of the Defense Forces.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the total number of dead and wounded soldiers in the war of Russia against Ukraine is almost a million people. However, western intelligence has different data on Russia's losses, considering that almost 200 thousand soldiers have died and 400 thousand have been wounded.
Ukraine's losses
In November 2023, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine's losses at the front are five times less than the losses of the Russian army. However, he did not disclose specific figures. In February 2024, Zelensky first named the number of dead soldiers - 31 thousand. There is no precise data on civilian casualties, but it is about tens of thousands.
