Ukrainians were told about the vegetable that will drop in price record-low in May.
Trends and forecasts in the Ukrainian vegetable market
As of April 15, 2025, the Ukrainian vegetable market is showing various trends. Increased supply and deteriorating quality of goods in storage are leading to lower prices for potatoes.
In supermarkets, potatoes cost between 28.40 and 40.50 UAH per kilogram, which is 25% higher than last year. Wholesale prices have dropped to 15-25 UAH, but young potatoes remain expensive - 42-45 UAH in supermarkets and up to 70 UAH in markets.
Now the first Ukrainian greenhouse tomatoes have appeared on the market, but their price (100-170 UAH/kg) significantly exceeds the price of imported tomatoes from Turkey (80-90 UAH/kg). Since the beginning of April, prices for tomatoes have decreased by 10-15% due to increased imports and reduced sales.
Onions demonstrate the greatest stability - 15-17 UAH per kilogram in supermarkets, which is 5% higher than last year.
Experts predict that in May 2025, vegetable prices will decrease by 7% compared to April prices. Especially the cost of cabbage, carrots, and potatoes may drop, but it all depends on weather conditions.
