Ukrainians forecast how much pensions will increase in 2025.
The Ukrainian government plans to index pensions in March 2025. According to preliminary expert estimates, the increase may be about 17%.
This was reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, emphasizing that the indexation will take place despite the military situation, as was already the case in 2023 and 2024.
The final size of the indexation is not yet known, as it depends on statistical data for 2024. However, based on forecasts from the National Bank of Ukraine about inflation at 8.5% and an average wage growth over the last three years of 12.7%, experts suggest that the indexation could be 16.95%.
It is important to note that the increase will only affect the basic part of the pension without additional supplements. The indexation will not cover those who have retired in recent years, as their payments are considered up-to-date. Minimum and maximum supplement amounts after indexation are also set at 100 and 1500 hryvnias, respectively.
According to the 2025 budget project, the minimum pension in Ukraine will remain at the 2024 level and will be 2361 hryvnias. Recall that after the last indexation on March 1, 2024, pensions increased by 8% for more than 10 million Ukrainians, and the average pension in the country was 5792 hryvnias.
Reduction of expenditure on subsidies and benefits
It should be noted that the government is also considering the possibility of reducing expenditure on subsidies and benefits in 2025.
