Working Doesn't Cancel Disability Pensions in Ukraine: Key Conditions Explained.
Financial Support for People with Disabilities in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, individuals with disabilities can receive state financial assistance without losing it if they take up formal employment. This means disabled persons are allowed to work while still qualifying for their pension payments. However, to be eligible, they must have accumulated sufficient insurance coverage, ranging from 1 to 15 years.
Disability pensions are granted under standard rules, provided the applicant meets the insurance record requirement. The amount of financial aid is calculated as a percentage of the old-age pension, potentially reaching 50%, 90%, or 100% of that figure. It is important to note that the minimum pension amount cannot fall below 2,595 hryvnias. For certain groups, such as first-group disability status holders who were liquidators of the Chornobyl disaster, the guaranteed pension will be at least 20,653 hryvnias in July.
Conditions for Receiving Pension Payments
Although pension payments are not revoked when a person is hired, there are specific grounds for cancellation. These include:
- refusing to undergo a repeat medical examination;
- issues with required documents;
- insufficient insurance record.
These factors must be taken into account when receiving financial assistance.
For those who plan to work but want to retain their pension rights, it is worth knowing that the minimum single social contribution (SSC) will be 1,902.34 hryvnias in July 2026. This could affect decisions on how to arrange employment and manage income levels.
Therefore, Ukrainians with disabilities can continue to receive state financial support while holding a job, as long as they meet the insurance record requirements.
This information is crucial for people with disabilities because it allows them to combine work with pension payments, potentially improving their financial situation significantly.
A clear understanding of the assistance conditions and insurance record rules will help prevent the loss of financial support rights, promoting social integration and active participation in the country's economy.
