Ukrainians are being warned about fraudulent SMS messages inviting them to register for heating assistance from the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security emphasizes that this is a scam, and IOM officially denies conducting registration through SMS or third-party sites.

'IOM does not conduct registration for heating assistance through SMS or third-party sites,' the organization emphasized in an official statement.

IOM representatives note that they never ask for personal financial data, such as:

  • three-digit number on the back of the card (CVV/CVC code)
  • card PIN
  • login and password for online banking
  • one-Time codes from banks and mobile operators

Experts recommend refraining from providing payment data on suspicious websites and not clicking on unknown links. All cases of fraud should be reported directly to the Cyber Police of Ukraine via the official website
