Assassination of Andriy Parubiy
According to The Sun: A horrific murder has occurred in Ukraine: former parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy, 54, was shot on the street in Lviv. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed this information and expressed condolences to the politician's family.
East2WestThe murder occurred around noon in the Sykhiv district. Parubiy was shot by a hired assassin who, according to media reports, disguised himself as a courier for the Glovo company. Law enforcement has already begun an active search for the criminal.
“Andriy Parubiy has been killed. My condolences to his family and loved ones,” Zelensky wrote on the social network X.
The President added: “All necessary forces and means have been mobilized for the investigation and search for the killer.” A criminal investigation has already been launched, involving local police and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Parubiy's body was found on the sidewalk on Academician Yefremov Street in Lviv. The politician sustained between five and eight gunshot wounds.
Parubiy's Career and Influence
Andriy Parubiy was a significant political figure who served as the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He played an important role in the protests in Kyiv in 2014 that led to the fall of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych, and he was referred to as the “commander of Maidan” – the tent camp that became the epicenter of the protests.
In 2014, Parubiy was also a victim of an assassination attempt when an anonymous assailant threw a grenade in his direction. The politician was regarded as an opponent of Russia, as evidenced by comments from some Russian media that stated: “Parubiy was an active supporter of Ukrainian nationalists.”

Law enforcement is actively working on the case, searching for witnesses and evidence to establish the identity of the killer. The site of the tragedy is cordoned off, with seven shell casings found, confirming the seriousness of the situation. The investigation into this incident is gaining momentum as the public and political circles await answers regarding the motivation and details of this crime.
