Moscow Oil Refinery Shuts Down After Ukrainian Drone Strikes.
Strikes Target Moscow Oil Refinery
According to UATV: Operations at the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya came to a halt following drone attacks on June 16 and 18. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the facility has ceased processing crude oil.
The attacks were carried out using Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The following equipment was damaged in the strikes:
- the AVT-6 primary crude oil processing unit;
- a combined oil processing unit (KUPN).
Additionally, two storage tanks with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters each and one tank with a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters were destroyed.
As a result, the refinery is no longer processing oil, which could disrupt regional fuel supplies. This marks another escalation in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with potential implications for energy security in the area.
These attacks highlight rising tensions and the risks to energy infrastructure, as the plant's shutdown may affect oil distribution networks.
Such operations may be part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to weaken the adversary's economic capabilities amid the prolonged war.
