Ukrainian Hackers Expose Russian Drone Routes via Belarus in Cyber Operation.
Cyber Surveillance of Russian Drones
According to UATV: For over six months, Ukrainian cyber specialists from the Fenix analytical center monitored Russian operators of attack drones, gathering evidence that Belarusian territory was being used for strikes against Ukraine. The operation, which ran from mid-2025 to February 2026, culminated in the hackers gaining access to the drone monitoring systems. This type of persistent cyber intelligence gathering has become a critical front in the ongoing conflict.
The strikes were traced to locations associated with the Russian drone unit 'Rubicon'. This intelligence indicates that Russian forces not only planned to attack Ukrainian targets but also considered striking logistical hubs on the Polish side. Poland, a key NATO ally bordering Belarus, was among the partners who received this information about the plans and activities.
The Critical Role of Cybersecurity
The data obtained by the analytical center underscores the vital importance of cybersecurity and monitoring adversary activity in modern warfare. The collected information could prove crucial in preventing potential attacks and ensuring regional security.
This situation highlights the growing role of cyber and information technologies in contemporary conflicts, where access to critical intelligence can directly influence tactical decisions and broader strategies. Monitoring an opponent's activity is a key element of national defense, and cooperation with international partners like Poland is essential for countering shared threats.
The experience of the Fenix analytical center could serve as a foundation for further work in this domain and for developing new methods of defense against cyber threats.
