Ukrainian soldier about captivity in Russia: torture, loss of a leg, and escape.
According to inkorr.com: Danilo Murashkin, a Ukrainian soldier who took part in the defense of Mariupol against Russian troops, shared horrifying memories of his life in Russian captivity. He spoke about the harsh conditions he endured in prisons as well as the abuse he suffered in a colony in Taganrog.
Being in captivity
Murashkin spent more than three years in captivity, defending his country at a young age. During his imprisonment, he lost 30 kilograms in weight and one leg due to torture.
‘They broke my leg with an iron pipe. They beat me until I couldn’t stand. I fell, and they continued to beat it. It was all black’
Terrible conditions and consequences
After a prisoner exchange with Russia, Murashkin learned that he had a torn muscle, which now causes his leg to be accompanied by 'swelling'. He also noted the terrible starvation and inhuman conditions he had to endure during his captivity.
Murashkin pays tribute to all the soldiers who gave their lives or health for their country during the Russian aggression. His story is yet another testimony to the cruelty and abuse that the Russian side applies in the war against Ukraine.
Testimonies from people like Danilo are important for understanding the scale of the tragedy that Ukraine is experiencing. His experience underscores the need for support and protection for Ukrainian soldiers who fight daily for the country's independence.
