According to Novyny.live: Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, has announced a special heritage tour on the historic Haivoron narrow-gauge railway, scheduled for January 24, 2026. This unique journey will allow passengers to travel aboard a vintage steam locomotive built in 1938. The retro train will operate on two scenic routes:
- Haivoron — Khashchuvate
- Haivoron — Bershad and back
The train's consist will feature authentic carriages, including Pafawag models from the late 1950s, PV-40 type carriages built in 1982, and a tanker wagon from 1966. This event offers a rare opportunity for railway enthusiasts and history buffs to experience a bygone era of travel firsthand. Narrow-gauge railways, once more common, are now prized for their historical charm and scenic routes.
A boarding pass for the journey costs 115 hryvnias for adults and 85 hryvnias for children under 14. For added convenience, direct connecting carriages will be available from major cities:
- Kyiv — Haivoron
- Lviv — Haivoron
The connecting service from Kyiv departs on January 23 at 20:28, and from Lviv on January 23 at 15:58. The return trip from Haivoron is set for January 24 at 21:20.
