A major resort with a beach is being built in Manchester: opening scheduled for 2028.

According to The Sun: The United Kingdom has announced the opening of a new water attraction, Therme Manchester, which is called the first urban resort for wellness recovery in the country. It is expected to start operations by 2028.
ThermeFor the implementation of the project, the construction company Sir Robert McAlpine was chosen, which has extensive experience in iconic British projects such as Wembley Stadium, the Millennium Dome, the Eden project, and the Olympic Stadium.
“We are pleased that the company will be involved in the design of Therme,” said Professor David Russell, CEO of Therme UK.
“We hope for a collaboration that will have a positive impact on the economy of Greater Manchester and beyond,” he added.
The chairman of Trafford Council, Tom Ross, emphasized: “This resort will attract millions of visitors every year, which will positively impact the local economy and create hundreds of jobs.”
“The resort will also support several of our key commitments, including economic development, health improvement, and the regeneration of underutilized areas,” he stressed.
The opening of the thermal resort was initially planned for 2024, but the timelines have changed, and now the project is expected to open in 2028. It includes a water park with 25 pools and 25 slides, and the water temperature will remain at 33°C year-round.

Additionally, the resort will offer the first indoor beach in Ukraine, as well as a wellness area with saunas, steam rooms, pools, and treatment rooms.
The resort will feature adult-only zones, pool bars, restaurants, cafes, and open gardens. For visitor convenience, a new tram stop and parking are planned to be built.
The initial estimated cost of the project was £250 million, but it is now expected to rise to £400 million. After opening, the resort can accommodate up to 1.7 million guests in its first year of operation.
For those interested in where a similar resort is already operating, there is Therme in Romania (Bucharest), but the Manchester project will be twice the size.

Moreover, a new Therme resort is also planned to be built in Glasgow.
This project has the potential to become an important element of the tourist infrastructure of Greater Manchester, attracting visitors from different corners of the country and the world. Additionally, its implementation could have a significant impact on regional development by creating new jobs and fostering economic growth.
