Umerov outlines Ukraine's strategy for air dominance.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced active negotiations with foreign partners regarding the supply of Western-made fighter jets.
The Ministry of Defense's press service released an interview recording.
Umerov noted that besides the already known F-16 and Mirage-2000, consultations are ongoing regarding the provision of Gripen and Eurofighter.
"We already have commitments from partners for F-16, and they are also considering the possibility of providing 'Mirages'. Consultations on Gripen and Eurofighter are ongoing," he said.
The minister highlighted three key aspects of transitioning to Western platforms: pilot training, infrastructure development, and the direct transfer of aircraft. He expressed optimism about the results of these negotiations and expects an announcement to be made soon.
In addition to fighter jets, Umerov also unveiled Ukraine's ambitious plans for drone production. He stated that the country would be capable of producing several million drones annually.
"Our capability is greater than a few million drones. We are capable of this. Next year, we will not let the enemy surpass us," the minister emphasized.
Umerov also added that drone production this year would significantly increase compared to the previous year.
Earlier, Umerov announced an agreement with Romania on F-16 pilot training.
