Nearly 278 Billion UAH: Ukraine Unveils Cost of Energy Resilience Plan Amid Russian Strikes.
High-Level Meeting on Energy Stability
According to Novyny.live: Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko recently convened a working session with heads of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions, focusing on shoring up the nation's energy stability. The comprehensive plan, designed to restore the country's energy infrastructure, carries a price tag of nearly 278 billion hryvnias. This initiative comes as Ukraine continues to face relentless Russian attacks on its critical infrastructure, underscoring the urgent need for a robust response.
Russian Attacks and Their Fallout
On March 19, Russian forces launched assaults that caused blackouts across three regions: Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy. These strikes resulted in a loss of over 9 GW of power capacity for Ukraine. So far, 3.5 GW of generation has been brought back online, with plans to restore approximately 4 GW more. Of that amount, over 2 GW could be operational again by the end of May.
During the meeting, Svyrydenko outlined priority tasks for Ukrainian diplomats in this area. She emphasized the need to focus on implementing the plan, which aims to bolster Ukraine's energy resilience amid ongoing aggression. While the situation in the energy system remains difficult, efforts to rebuild damaged infrastructure are intensifying.

The threats from Russian forces highlight the necessity not only for urgent repairs but also for long-term investments in modernizing and expanding energy capacity. The implementation of the 278 billion hryvnia plan represents a critical step toward strengthening the country's energy independence.
