Electricity Tariffs in Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: The Ukrainian government has decided to maintain the electricity price for households at 4.32 UAH per 1 kWh starting March 1. This decision applies to all households consuming electricity under standard tariffs. This price freeze comes as many citizens continue to face economic pressures due to the ongoing war.

For consumers who use electricity for heating, a special rate of 2.64 UAH per 1 kWh has been set. This discounted rate is valid provided monthly consumption does not exceed 2000 kWh, which helps reduce electricity costs during the winter heating season.

Furthermore, owners of two-zone meters can take advantage of a night-time tariff of 2.16 UAH per 1 kWh, applicable from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This tariff promotes cost savings for those able to shift significant consumption to nighttime hours.

Changes in Other Utility Services

Simultaneously, prices for some other communal services in Ukraine have increased. Specifically:

  • Multi-apartment building management services have risen by 10.9%,
  • Household waste removal by 4.2%,
  • Housing maintenance and repair by 3.2%.

These changes may affect the overall utility expenses for the population, even as electricity tariffs are held steady.

Maintaining electricity tariffs could ease the financial burden for many Ukrainian households, especially during the winter heating period. However, the price hikes for other utilities indicate a broader rise in living costs that may impact citizens' welfare. Therefore, while electricity prices remain stable, the overall financial pressure on the population may still increase due to other factors.
