The operation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine on June 1 will affect Russia's ability to attack Ukraine from a distance, according to a report by the American Institute for the Study of War. The operation targeted the Russian strategic bombers Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 used by Russia for attacks on Ukrainian territory, as well as the radar systems for detecting Ukrainian air defense and coordinating aircraft actions.
Experts say that after the operation, there may be a problem with replacing damaged aircraft in Russia, as the production of important components for the Tu-95 and Tu-22 has already been halted. Fewer than 90 of these models remain. It has also been noted that Russia increasingly uses Su aircraft for missile attacks instead of strategic bombers.
Analysts predict that after the June 1 attack, Russian officials may reconsider their air defense systems' strategy for better coverage of the territory and even deploy mobile groups to respond to similar strikes in the future. Following this operation, it may become more challenging for Russians to shell civilian objects using strategic aviation.
The event that took place on June 1, when the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an operation against Russian bombers, is of great importance for Ukraine's security. It may impact Russia's ability to attack Ukrainian territory and compel Russian military forces to reassess their response strategies to such actions in the future.Read also
