Southern Ukraine Gets New 112 Emergency Hub in Odesa with 80 Operators Including War Veterans.
Odesa 112 Communication Center Now Operational
According to Novyny.live: A new communication hub for Ukraine's 112 emergency service has been launched in Odesa, specifically set up to handle distress calls from the country's southern regions. Construction of the facility took nearly a year, and it now employs 80 operators. Seven of them are veterans of the Russo-Ukrainian war, reflecting the service's commitment to social responsibility and support for those who have served the nation.
This center is Ukraine's fourth 112 communication hub and covers the southern zone, which includes:
- Odesa Oblast
- Mykolaiv Oblast
- Kherson Oblast
- Kirovohrad Oblast
- The Autonomous Republic of Crimea
Over the past two and a half years, operators across all 112 centers have fielded more than 11 million calls, underscoring the massive workload and the service's critical role for the public. This winter alone, the 112 service handled over 100,000 calls related to outages of heating, water, and electricity. These numbers highlight the relevance and necessity of such communication centers, especially during crisis situations.
The opening of the new Odesa hub represents a major step forward in improving emergency response in the region and ensuring rapid reactions to citizens' needs.
Why This New Center Matters
By establishing a communication hub in Odesa, emergency response efficiency in southern Ukraine has been significantly boosted. This is especially crucial given modern challenges like energy crises. The inclusion of veterans among the operators also helps build public trust in the service, as these individuals bring firsthand experience from serving under extreme conditions. This can positively impact the quality of assistance and public support during critical situations.
