Residents of Ukrainian cities continue to whiten trees and curbs, but this is not only an outdated but also a harmful practice
.
In Lviv, whitening has been prohibited for several years. Experts explain that it brings no benefits but harms trees and the environment. The lime used for whitening worsens the condition of the plantings. Whitish curbs do not look attractive and become even worse after rain.
.
Ecologists and utility workers urge residents to focus on real care for green spaces and simply repair the curbs instead of whitening them. Whitening is not a requirement of any norms or rules, but merely creates the illusion of neatness and order.
Earlier, experts named the crops that suffered the most from the April frosts.
