The regional Human Rights Protection Center was opened in Ivano-Frankivsk.

"This is the first such center that we are opening on the territory of Ukraine... The main idea is to implement the so-called decentralization reform of our institution. I want to reach every community so that every citizen, in case of rights violations, knows that they can instantly contact us... and so that a regional team, which can quickly respond and restore violated rights, is physically present in the region," said the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

According to his belief, such a center should operate in each region with a staff of at least 10 people – a representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights and 9 specialists who will supervise relevant areas of work. Among them are the protection of the rights of military personnel, veterans, families of prisoners of war, child rights protection, protection of the rights of persons affected by armed aggression (IDPs), issues of access to public information and protection of personal data, rights of national minorities, people with disabilities, combating human trafficking, domestic violence, and others.

According to Lubinets, the "Human Rights Protection Center" project is being implemented jointly with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine.

The Human Rights Protection Center in Ivano-Frankivsk already has a children's space and unimpeded access for persons with disabilities and other low-mobility groups of the population. The center's premises can be used free of charge by representatives of public organizations and charitable foundations to hold necessary events.

It was mentioned that this year, appeals to the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights have increased by almost 20% compared to the same period last year.

"By the end of this year, we will create three mobile reception offices based on large vehicles. These will be mobile offices equipped with the Internet, a generator, workplaces... These mobile receptions will reach not just every community, but every sub-region," Lubinets noted.

He assured that the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where many people live in mountainous areas, will be one of the first three regions where this project will begin to be implemented.
