In Ukrenergo, they said under what weather conditions blackout schedules might return.
Ukrainians were told the conditions under which electricity would be turned off according to schedules in winter.
This was announced by a member of the supervisory board of "Ukrenergo" Yuriy Boyko at a briefing.
According to him, in winter in Ukraine, power outages according to schedules are possible, but restrictions will be introduced depending on the weather and frost.
Boyko also expressed hope that this winter, despite possible shelling and its consequences, Ukraine will get through either without restrictions or with minimal restrictions at temperatures up to -5 degrees inclusive.
Moreover, he noted that a power deficit is expected in the system if there are prolonged periods, specifically three or more days with temperatures of -10 degrees and below.
"Under such circumstances, considering the pace and schedules of recovery, and accordingly the import resource, which was literally increased to 2100 megawatts a week ago, it will still not be enough. And on such critically cold days, we will still be accompanied by restriction schedules," explained the member of the supervisory board of "Ukrenergo".
Based on his assessments, depending on the temperature in frosty weather, electricity will be turned off from one to three queues. Furthermore, three queues during very low temperatures.
"The only thing to understand, considering the statistics of recent winters, there were not many such days in the year. Unfortunately, today we have to consider this factor. If before the war Ukraine's energy sector was ready for any temperature regime, then today, unfortunately, due to extensive damage, and at times irreversible destruction, we are weather-dependent. And therefore, in such scenarios, we will indeed face certain limitations in electricity supply," added Boyko.
Previously, it was reported that Ukraine is preparing for strikes on nuclear power plants.
